In September 2023 I lost my sister, neighbor, and photography travel-buddy Patty Hosmer who finally succumbed to a decades-long struggle with breast cancer. Patty never let her disease define her. As a life-long horse person, Patty in particular specialized in western lifestyle photography, and built an impressive portfolio of beautiful images in this niche. Several are award winners, most noticeably Best in Category at the world-renowned Calgary Stampede.
I have taken over management of her online portfolio and webstore. One thing about digital photography that really hits home when a loss like this takes place, is how ephemeral the product really is. Without someone to carry on, all those online images will just evaporate into cyberspace. The only true way to guarantee some kind of permanence is to commit those images to print, where they can outlive their creator by decades or even centuries.
